Day 2 - WIIIIIIINE Country

We couldn't come to Walla Walla for two days and not go to some wineries. So we did. We went to several. Our first stop for the day was Clarette's for some breakfast. It was hometown good, just the way we like it.

I wish I had gotten a picture of some of the people there as they stared at us. They were all locals and we stuck out like a sore thumb.

We left Clarette's and went to our first winery, Dunham Cellars. I only got one picture there, but we did run into some funny ladies and should have asked them for a pic. All three of them looked to be in their 60s, and they were all wearing bright floral shirts and matching rhinestone hats, and they had definitely tasted their share of wines...by 11:45 in the morning. Hilarious.

From Dunham, we headed out to L'Ecole No. 41. It was in a really cool building, but the wine left a lot to be desired. This is where we first ran into our future friends, Doug and Kari.

However, right next door was Woodward Canyon. It had a small sign outside and the tasting room was in a small old house, but the wine was mighty fine. We also chatted with our friends there too :)

We ended up purchasing a few wines from there and hope to be able to ship some to Boston once we get there so that we can share Washington with new people that we meet.

After heading back to our hotel, we decided to make the trek to the Amavi tasting room. We stumbled upon the Amavi Cabernet a few years ago at a steak house in Seattle. We would always buy it when we could find it. So, we walked across town and tasted wine there (we also passed an apricot tree - I had never seen one before). It was just as we thought it would be...delish!

After Amavi, we hiked back across town to a place that we were told about earlier in the day, Vintage Cellars. There we enjoyed a nice glass of wine and pizza.

We had an awesome day...made some new friends, Doug and Kari...

What wonderful way to end our stay in Walla Walla. Now...on to Butte, Montana!!
