Leaving was harder than we thought it would be. The packing was tough, but leaving our friends and family in Seattle (and surrounding area) was...wow...REALLY tough. We had a great weekend at the lake with Jill and Cory, et al. We also had a wonderful visit with the family on Sunday and then with Becky on Monday. While visiting with everyone was nice, it didn't make leaving Seattle any easier. However, wine in Walla Walla did ease the pain a bit ;-). We left our condo at about 11:30, grabbed a coffee at Cafe Vivace, and headed east.

Nothing very exciting on our way here, but we did take our time and snapped a few photos along the way...
Leaving Seattle, Mt Si:
Crossing Snoqualmie Pass:
And THEN, we went through Palm Springs....
oh wait......it was just the "Palm Springs of Washington".
The scenery is sooooo different from Seattle:
(for friend/family in the 'Sip, eastern Washington is basically a desert).
One thing that we will not miss about Seattle is the lack of Sonics - home of the diet Cherry Limeade:
Finally, we made it to Walla Walla, Washington. We stopped by the Whitman Mission National Historic Monument. We learned all about the Whitmans and the Cayuse Indians.
The Oregon Trail:
The always fun self-portrait on our climb up to the monument in flip flops:
Then, Brian tried out the teepee. Maybe it's just me, but I think he would have stood out a little bit back then...
We made our way to where we would be staying. I was REAL scared when I saw the outside of our hotel:
But then, we walked in. Now we think that we may not leave. Does anyone know of any biotechs in Walla Walla?
Winery tours tomorrow!

I hope yall have a safe trip!
